china trip
dear frens,
(special shout out to my darlings charm, queen abi, kath and lady jojo)
we went to jiang xi and an hui sen this year.
visited a ton of mts and one of our grp members passed on the 3-gods mts; it s a famous taoist mt where 3 taoist gods were enlightened.
that happened on the 22th.
i'll never forget that day as long as i live. this post is a tribute to him. he was a generous, kind and happy soul. No one could imagine that he left us on that fateful wet morning while hiking up the mt.
i ll always remember that day. i was so cold and sad i could not speak.
here are some other pics taken on the trip.
we climbed up there to the rock. KIDDING... we ll need to be prof mt climbers to do so...
can u see the pig? zhu ba jie of journey to the west apparently stood on this clift to meet his lover chang e
trees enshrouded by mist. the mt was real cold.
Lu shan. we were real lucky to see this. it is misty 300 days a year!!!
i was amused by the wind-speed measurements... afterall, i m a geog student
didnt i tell u the mt is really preety??
pine leaves and dew. i tho the pine leaves looked like porcupines when bunched together :)
the tour guide explained that at a certain height, the trees are all straight not becos of the gravi pull but becos the wind is so strong, it forces the trees to grow hori instead of verti
this used to be li bai's school of thought. he thought here for some 30 years. but now it's converted into jade shop-houses. this is at jiu hua shan.
jiu hua shan has 99 temples... so we did aLOT of climbing... this is a 15 min walk frm our hotel
see the tree is split in half, it s a natural phenomenon
rat waiting for food at the offering pond. buddhist believe in doing good so they often release fishes back into the wild. in the morn teh old ladies of the town feed the fish broken rice.
the sun was shining so beautifully... it almost seemed like something good was about to happen
can u imagine how much i climbed to get up here???!!!
one of the numerous temples we visited
the chrysanthemums were huge bigger than my fist... my bro wanted to box them but this old nun was watching so we walked away...
as u can see kai chi loves trees...
Wu yan the house of zhu rong ji
it s considered the last village in china...
another beautifully artistic tree
I guess charm and abi are sorely disappointed now cos when i promised pics... they expected pics of me??? HAHA not A CHANCE...
i leave u with my bro's pic here he is watching me perform on stage... sounds familar?? lol...
dont u think my bro is mean??? how can he look so bored? so non-chalent when I M PERFORMING???!!!!
me on the qing dynasty stage... this is a PERSONAL stage mind you... owned by a business man... it was built for his wife on top of a hill; their home is on a hill facing huang shan...
Now since you are so good, kind and patient and MOST IMPORTANTLY not as irritating like my bro was when he watched me perform chinese opera, i'll leave you with another pic of me at an the entrance/road to the old folks home in china; an old folks home for the retired red army
here i am tired after the long walk to the entrance, in the rain. by the way the old folks home was another 30 mins walk to the left....
china has lots of walking. yup that s all i can say...
lots of love,
kai chi

hol update
Hi everyone,
I ve decided to blog again. No sorry ZQ, i ve kinda let you down I'm sticking to this xanga account cos it s so much easier to navigate than the other one you set up for me; i know it s impossible to comment on this one so... haha : /
Hmmm kath insists that I'm kinda like a bummer... I think I've become more introverted this hols. Ever since the disastrous outing with fifi, bel, marcus, leon, guo dong and dear deb, i ve decided to stay and stick to home.
I dont feel like going out anymore. I've officially maxed out my shooppin quota.
kinda miss hikari and karissa and GM ( who is so busy with ben's bday bash she's ignored me...esp since ben and I dont really click), [NOTE TO KATH: I dont really get along with my frens bf so please....lol...u know what i m talkin abt..] had a great time going out with them. But it cant be helped. hikari is in US now and she will be transiting to Japan after which so there is absolutely no chance of seeing her until next year...
crap now kath is hoppin mad...sigh, i guess it cannt be helped...i had to tease her...
deb is going away to study next year. the year is going to be awfully lonely without her :(
cannt really bear having her leave.
the sad thing is the I havent managed to go out with the court just yet. thems darlings are still having their exams on genetic engineering and what nots...
promised kath a few times that i ll go watch her jazz performance... I dont get it but she keeps saying i m unreliable when it comes down to having to go the distance... sigh... she refuses to tell me what songs she s playing cos she thinks i wont get my butt out of the house if she reveals too much... i need the SPOILERS kath!!!!
dont worry kath, i wont come if it rains, and it will rain, judging from the last few days... JUST KIDDING... i ve invited 2 frens down so i guess I MUST watch ur performance now...
come-on i m reliable, after all i DID watch catch annette's performance
kath i ve managed to contact lady lysol... :) i m thinkin an outing!!!!
my queen is at church camp so i havent been hearing from her... it s horrid... now i dont get to chat with her everynight... miss her voice quite a bit...
jojo and charm are mugging real hard...
really sad that i ll be missing the class reunion... was looking forward to catching up with thems dgians but i ll be walking the unbeaten road by then...

horrid day
i m a messed up individual. after smsing with shaminah my head clears up...
i was superb pissed today.
imagine u re having a head-splitting headache a high fever, runny nose and ur throat hurts like crap
and u get a phone call abt ur points for presentation. ok understandable cos u were supp to have it today...
then after spending time smsing them ur points they say forget it.
wow. so much for being nice.
hello we went thru the pts so many times, u know them better than i do.
plus u have to deal with the angry parent telling u to get the phone and get off the line cos they need the house phone to work.
sucks?
define my day.

live down the curling road
i cannt understand u.
really i dont. u smile and smlie
and laugh as if
the whole world were sunny
it rained today
and ur superficiality left me astounded
the grassy mist swirled around me
left on the deck alone,wet
if i could have jumped
i would have...
if only there were an opportunity
i ve realised u
hate me
yet i know u continue to
live ur pretentious lie
forcing me to live it up
else become the bad guy
i know what to do now.
ur behaviour stings
and i know nobody knows u like i do
tht s what makes u come back and back at me
i need a shield, the one i have is too battered
i ll
leave u alone.
damn disappointed today cos i didnt get to go for ice-cream with my clique six buddies : (
it was com to stay back cos it was racial harmony day. they shut the gates...

dinner : )
Had a talk with mom.
Spoke to her of my opinions of fund-raising for the less fortunate in other countries what the boy on the bus (zhu qing's history classmate) termed as a "socio-enterprise". Mom just laughed.
went to do lit at BPP. nothing to comment on tht.
was supp to vist grandma to have dinner but dad and mom proponed it cos i came home too late...
went with the family to check out the new foodcourt at hougang mall instead. it s called "mei shi mei le" a chinese cheng yu. my fav stall's name was "ji bu ke shi" which means "u must take hold of opportunities as they come"; but they changed the words around and meaning changed to "u must not miss out on eating the chicken". COOL eh?
the kopitiam is chinese themed. it looks pretty doesnt it? it has nursery rhymes of the different southern chinese provinces on the glass windows!
this is where we sat. NO WAY. we didnt...

the table has quite an amazing finishing! there are poems by "li bai" carved on it!
isnt the place rather retro? i like the shapes made on the yellow.

but what i like most were the lights! they looked a bit like my music box. i used to have this rounded disney music box when i was young. it emitted color and turned continuously allowing the lights of pink, green, yellow, red and blue to dance on the wall when the song played...

isnt the stall quaint? they have their menu written on wooden blocks!

this is what chai ate for dessert. the thing i love abt these kopitiams is that u choose to eat whateva type of food you want u!

if u cant guess this is chedol. an indian dessert. doesnt it look yummy? but then again i never really liked chendol, i ve always found it a tad too sweet. dont really like the coconut sugar taste...
i ate my fav nostalgia dessert:

soursoap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haha.... today is quite a good day indeed.
